ABOUT US

Chhaap / छाप — A Mark That Stays

“Chhaap” is a Hindi word that means mark, impression, trace. For us, it is more than just a word—it’s a philosophy. Every garment we create is designed to leave behind a mark—not just on fabric, but on people, places, and the stories we walk into.

Our Philosophy

Born in the heart of Rajasthan, Chhaap is a slow fashion label rooted in the centuries-old tradition of hand block printing. Each wooden block is carved patiently by hand, and each print is pressed onto fabric with intention, rhythm, and respect for imperfection.

We pair this artisanal craft with contemporary, versatile silhouettes—garments that are expressive yet understated, bold yet wearable.

Love, Our Raw Material

At Chhaap, love isn’t just an inspiration—it’s the raw material. Love for craft. Love for culture. Love for the slowness it takes to create something meaningful.

Every piece carries this love stitched and printed into it, becoming more than just clothing—becoming something you feel.

Sustainability: The True Luxury

For us, sustainability isn’t a trend—it’s the truest form of luxury.

We choose thoughtful fabrics like handloom cotton and Bemberg, which are gentle on the skin and kinder to the planet. Each piece is printed using low-impact dyes, produced in limited numbers, and made in collaboration with skilled artisans.

This pace may be slower, but it creates something that lasts longer—clothing that carries meaning.

Meet The Founder

Tanisha Bajaj

Founder & Creative Director, Chhaap

Tanisha’s journey into design began long before she formally studied it. From an early age, she was drawn to the world of fashion—sketching silhouettes, dreaming up collections, and knowing in her heart that design was where she belonged. Still, her curiosity about people and their stories led her first to study Psychology at Lady Shri Ram College, where she deepened her understanding of emotions, identity, and self-expression.

Eventually, her path returned to where her passion had always been—fashion. She pursued her education at NIFD Mumbai, immersing herself in design and craft.

Raised in Rajasthan, Tanisha grew up amidst the rich heritage of handblock printing. What began as childhood fascination with the rhythmic stamping of blocks and the earthy smell of natural dyes grew into a deep love for the craft. With Chhaap, she weaves together her early dream of designing, her formal training, and her cultural roots to create clothing that is as thoughtful as it is beautiful.

Each piece is a celebration of tradition meeting modernity—crafted with love, worn with joy, and remembered as an impression that lasts.
